Is Delhi Public School Warangal a residential school?

Delhi Public School Warangal was founded in 2014, with the vision of bringing high quality education to Warangal district. Today, as Warangal emerges as an educational hub, the school is home to over 1200 students, who call this lush, green and well planned 12 acre campus their school. With a sprawling campus with high-tech security for safety, DPS Warangal is located midway between the tri-city area of Warangal, Hanamkonda, and Kazipet. With a clear goal of being accessible to parents and students in the area, and other students from around the country, today –the school is the residential destination of choice for kids from Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Raipur, Hyderabad and many other tier 1 cities.

Over its journey of being a top-rated residential and day school, DPS Warangal has won numerous awards for its proven academic excellence, alongside recognition for its students skills in non-academic areas, too.

The school has been voted among the top 10 residential schools in the country, today, making it a premier choice for parents looking to provide their children with quality education, in a safe environment.

Residential Facilities at DPS Warangal

The boarding facilities of the school have been designed keeping in mind the growing needs of our children, who make the campus their home. There are two separate blocks for girls and boys. Each block can accommodate up to 150 girls, and almost 492 boys with the ability to expand further.

Each residential wing has rooms shared by students, and each block further is led by a team of capable full time residential staff. This team is led by the boarding in-charge, who’s ably supported by the head, warden, supporting wardens. The support staff for each residential block is different ensuring that students have all the comfort, and supervision they need. Life in the hotel is a varied mix of activities. Much like the schedule at home, kids are expected to finish their homework during designated hours of the evening. This is done under the supervision of a warden. The hotel follows a seven-day schedule to ensure kids are familiar with a routine, and feel acclimated to a life of discipline in managing themselves, and their time, both.

The dinner timings are fixed and meals are provided based on consultation with a nutritionist to ensure each age group receives the right kind of food and meals based on their dietary needs. With Sunday being the day of rest, often the school also plans excursions to local places to immerse kids in experiences, and help them feel like a part of the community. To ensure the well-being and health of the kids, often, in the event of any illness, there’s a small clinic on campus which is fully equipped to deal with all minor ailments with a doctor on call 24×7, and a nurse to tend to children.

Infrastructure and educational facilities

At a time in history, when kids are overstimulated with screens, and information, DPS Warangal provides a welcome environment from sensory overstimulation. Our verdant grounds, carefully planted with fruiting and flowering plants ensures that kids enjoy an almost nostalgic upbringing on campus. The green grounds are a visual reminder of being connected to nature, always.

As DPSians, we’re extremely proud of our focus and drive to be part of the country’s nation building by playing an active part in educating generation after generation of children, who have gone on to become integral members of society.

Classroom and scholastic learning infrastructure

It’s with this vision in mind that we created a campus that is replete with many facilities. Right from digital classrooms with screens and projectors, dedicated Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics laboratories with state of the art infrastructure, internet access, and Robotics Labs. With 63 classrooms, there’s no dearth of spaces for kids to explore their inquisitive minds. Libraries are fully equipped with reading material for all types of learning styles –be it audio-video content, or traditional textbook based content. Children are encouraged to read newspapers with the express purpose of developing their concentration skills during the daily assembly and helping them start the day with a prayer and calm.

With a robust teacher-to-section ratio, our instructional methods ensure that each child in a section receives enough attention and regular feedback on their learning and progress for the class level.

Sports facilities

Our 6 dedicated sports fields for cricket, volleyball, basketball, football, skating and running tracks, alongside a half-Olympic size swimming pool make us one of the most robust sports facilities in the Telangana region. The wide spread campus ensures that children get to learn a wide variety of sports under the supervision of coaches, and sports professionals. Right from learning to skate to swimming –our school allows students to master a sport of their choice.

Arts education facilities

We take great pride in the school’s contribution to arts, music, dance, and theatre. With dedicated clubs for each of these disciplines, alongside debate clubs, English Society, chess club and other interest based clubs, we offer a balanced approach to learning and life on the campus. Students are encouraged to participate in these activities and often children with excellence have a showcase of their skills through a dedicated Art and Craft Room. This also acts as a showcase for the creative work our students produce. Art Exhibitions are held at the school to display creations of the students. With a view to expose children to various art forms –be it dance, painting, or others, the view is to educate them and help them appreciate culture, and art forms.

A day in the life of a residential student, at DPS Warangal

A day in the life of our residential scholar starts at 5.30am with a wakeup call. Following their morning rituals, the house masters leave time for revision and self work prior to school commencing at 8.30am. The kids then return to the hostel premises by around 3pm and are met with snacks, having finished their lunch at school. Following this break from 3.30pm to 4.15pm is a small study break, after which it’s time for sports and games for an hour. Then it’s time to relax until 6.30pm followed by time for studies, revisions and homework. Dinner is at 9pm for all grades from Class III to Class XII, followed by self-study time until lights out at 10.30pm.

The CBSE curriculum at DPS Warangal

We follow the CBSE curriculum with NCERT textbooks which are designed for modern learners. With grades starting from nursery to XII standard, and test preparation facilities, our school caters to learners of all ages. The residential school is only open to students from Class III onwards. The learning on campus within the residential program further integrates the learning outcomes designed by CBSE through Life Skills programs, SEWA programs for residential students, and dedicated time for self study. The team supporting the hostel block communicates with the teachers to help build a communication channel between the student, and the teachers, and provide feedback in absence of parents. The kids receive regular breaks to visit home at the end of term.

Benefits of boarding at DPS Warangal

Studying in a residential school comes with unique learning opportunities and experiences that day-scholars simply don’t get to witness. The first biggest advantage is inculcating a sense of discipline, and self esteem by being responsible for your own time, and self. This sense of independence is learned at a young age; it is priceless in helping a child become well-versed with managing themselves. Living in a hostel also exposes kids to children from different backgrounds; hence giving them a firsthand experience of living and studying with people who don’t necessarily act or behave like them. It helps them appreciate our differences, while learning how to communicate their needs well, and develop a strong sense of empathy for others. In line with Delhi Public Society’s motto of service before self –our students also learn how to care for the community they’re part of.

These lessons, in conjunction with academic, artistic, and sports development ensure that the hostel experience fosters friendships of a lifetime which in turn result in valuable networks. Our robust alumni system is devoted to building responsible and cooperative relationships among our students to receive mentoring and other benefits from our past students. Finally, it also teaches a child to adapt to different circumstances. With each year, living with a variety of students, teaches us to learn to respond to our environment and creates a sense of belonging, and community which is unique.

This means that the overall experience is unlike any other, and a cherished childhood that’s filled with memories of warm friendships.

As a parent, seeking the finest kind of education you can consider for your child, come visit us at DPS Warangal. We have taught and led some of the brightest minds of the country, and have built a strong legacy of thought leadership through our alumni. With a compassionate, warm and disciplined team at the helm of our residential facilities, we feel confident in our ability to instill discipline, foster self-reliance, help your child experience diverse cultures, build friendships, and adapt to new surroundings –all within the campus, as they learn and grow as human beings.
